What counted was the immediate outrage, not the truth. In this tragic event the IDF, when asked, declared not to have operated in the vicinity of the car but kilometers away from its location. Furthermore, by their own declaration Hamas is a big believer in child sacrifices. They should all become martyrs. The real question therefore to be answered is: what was the ongoing war-time event hamas wanted to distract attention from?
Hamas' war is fought through deceit, lies and propaganda. This story perfectly fits into this strategy. Only gullible westerners will buy into it.

Or did they rely heavily on the Al-Jazeera account and treat it as if it were reliable?
